The class was held at St. Joe Conservation Club and was conducted by Bryan Beneke of the Indiana DNR, assisted by Conservation Officers Doug Chapman and Steve Cole. There were a total of 14 young men and women in attendance and they were instructed in the fundamentals of gun safety, wildlife identification and other related topics. Phyllis and Jim Keckler were responsible for organizing and conducting the session, and we extend our appreciation to them for their continuing efforts in the field of youth education.  Also, thank you to the representatives of the Indiana DNR for their support of the educational session and the St. Joe Conservation Club for, yet again providing us with the use of their excellent facility.

There is no minimum age requirement to attend. however any child under age 11 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the sessions. Registration is required.

The 1st Habitat Happy Hour was held at Country Heritage Winery on Thursday evening August 27. Chapter 182 hosted this event for the purpose of introducing more people to the purpose and activities of the chapter. The evening was very successful with good attendance by the public and active interface with members of chapter 182.

As a side benefit the chapter received almost $1700 in contributions towards our habitat, education and other PF initiatives.

There was a raffle of 2 firearms and 4 Indianapolis Colts tickets. The winners were:

Roger Krehl - Ruger 6.5 Creedmor

Jim Thompson - Mossberg 6.5 Creedmor (donated back to Chapter 182)

Jerry Hans - Colts tickets

A special thank you to the chapter 182 members who organized and conducted this new and innovative event, and to those who attended. It is expected that this will become an annual tradition.

Youth Pheasant Hunt

Youth Pheasant Hunt

Chapter 182 sponsors a variety of youth activities throughout the year and a very important one is our Youth Pheasant Hunt. This event is held at the St. Joe Valley Conservation Club in St. Joe, IN on the first Saturday in December.

Annual Banquet

Annual Banquet

Each year Chapter 182 has an annual banquet to get fellow pheasant hunters and others in the community to gather together in support of our habitat, youth education, and conservation efforts. This is also an opportunity to educate area residents on the mission of Pheasants Forever and solicit their active involvement in those endeavors. It is important to note that 100% of the money raised at the Banquet stays in our four county membership area and is all used for local projects.
